True Farm to Table in Baltimore
If you live, visited, or just popped in for a day to Baltimore, it would be unfortunate and remiss not to stop by Woodberry Kitchen in Clipper Mill. While the volumes of rave reviews, litany of happy customers, and a staff so informed and well educated on the making, creation, and presentation of the cuisine, it’s an experience like nothing else in this city.
Whether you go for their...

A Taste of Mexico in Baltimore
As you may tell, anything avocado driven is my livelihood. When it comes to Mexican, I can never get enough and would gladly love to spend a weekend (nay, week) in Mexico sampling some authentic cuisine.
In the meantime, Miguel’s Cocina & Cantina in Silo Point will fit the bill just fine!
Resting on the bottom floor of Silo Point with a killer water view and glimpse of the Natty Boh...

The New Kid in Town
Bagby’s has the market cornered these days in Baltimore. With a hot spot for pizza and now the arrival of Ten Ten (and Fleet Street Kitchen in the works for this year), it’s safe to say Bagby’s has a good thing going right now in Harbor East.
While I don’t need to sing the praises for Bagby Pizza (check out my post from a few months earlier), I’m now a big believer...

Baltimore Restaurant Week is Coming!
And boy am I excited! Baltimore Restaurant Week (January 20-29) is here again and as always, serves as an opportunity to either experiment at new places or check out ones that are out of the budget otherwise.
This year I think I’ll opting for the former and going somewhere new and exciting to Charm City! One serious frontrunner is a new, charmingly elegant and quirky spot in Hampden, hon....

Chazz Palminteri Brings Brooklyn Pizza to Bmore
This post may be a few months late but Baltimore has a 5-star blockbuster on its hands with Chazz Palminteri’s Chazz’s: A Bronx Original in Harbor East. Whether you best know him as Shorty from “Modern Family” or Dave from “The Usual Suspects,” Chazz has brought his New York style to this Charm City, a city that’s taken to the new restaurant/bar with high...

Classy Cuisine in Canton
There are certainly several hot spots in Baltimore where you go both to see and be seen (Sloane Brown knows a thing or two about this). When these local joints actually have food and cocktails that are completely top notch and have chefs who are something of a magician in the kitchen-sign me up.
Tucked away on a Canton corner, with a pretty fun view of the Natty Boh Tower, you’ll find Blue...

Brunching in Brooklyn
I am fairly certain I have stumbled into the Woodberry Kitchen of Brooklyn this past weekend when visiting friends. Any good whirlwind weekend filled with NYC shopping, dining, cocktails, and good friends warrants a much needed relaxing, hearty brunch. Rose Water offers indoor or outdoor seating tucked away in Park Slope and organic, fresh, farm to table inspired dishes that give reason for the 30...

Healthy Food For All in MD
There’s nothing I love more than healthy foods. Give me an afternoon and a Whole Foods/Wegmans/Fresh Market/Trader Joe’s and I can spend hours (and big bucks) there with out a problem. Not to mention, despite all my bias, I find the Baltimore Farmer’s Market under the JFX to be one the best in the country. If you don’t believe me, spend your Sunday morning (then head over...

Pasta in the County
Occasionally-and I do mean occasionally-I enjoy venturing into the county to find the new hotspot happy hour and dining dish!
While it’s not exactly new anymore, just last month I made it all the way to Ellicott City’s Main Street ( if you haven’t checked out one of the three new vintage shops on the street, do it. Now.) to try out Portalli’s for some Italian fare!
I love...

Slices in the City
Pizza is about as rampant in the city as sushi. In every pocket of Baltimore, you can find a fantastic pizza place-no questions asked. This summer, however, I was on the hunt for a pizza place with outside seating, great drink options, and close to where I’d be going out later-Fells Point.
The winner? Bagby Pizza in Harbor East! Tucked in the Bagby building of Harbor East, across from Whole...

Tea Time in Baltimore
This past weekend was ArtScape in Baltimore. I could write a post simply about that incredible event with ease (my boyfriend actually had a piece of art featured in GameScape this year)but that’s not why you’re reading this blog. It’s amazing, huge, creative, funky, and truly an all day event. After walking around for almost (possibly over) 4 hours on a 90-some degree day, my...

A Little Italy Staple in Baltimore
If there’s one place in Baltimore that I know is consistently good, delicious, and can go from casual dinner to fancy dining it’s Little Italy. I’ve made a point this past year to try more Little Italy hotspots (somehow I always would wind up at Sabatino’s-not a bad thing, trust me!) and branch out a bit. From Rocco’s to Chiaparellis to now Caesar’s Den,...

Kona Grille comes to Baltimore!
I’m extremely lucky enough to have the new Kona Grill directly across from my office building. Perfect for happy houring, sitting outside under their tented patio (accommodated with couches and tables), and feeding any sushi craving I may have. Or burger.
That’s what I found to be the winning ticket about Kona-the wide range and quality of their menu! Seafood, burgers, sushi, lite...

Serious Steaks in Baltimore
As I’ve said earlier, I love love love Baltimore Restaurant Weeks. Mainly because I use it as an excuse to check out fancy pants places I normally wouldn’t venture for some high end eating at a fixed price my wallet can handle.
This past Winter Restaurant Week (don’t worry-the next one is a mere 3 months away!) I decided to veer from my beloved Ruths Chris for Sullivan’s...

Lebanese Represent in Baltimore
Harbor East serves as one of my favorite dining locations in the city. Nothing compares to eating harbor side on some very fine dining. Now throw in Lebanese Taverna as an option for where to eat and you have one very elegant evening of food!
Also found in D.C., Lebanese has a fabulous restaurant tucked away waterfront in Harbor East that is lavish, open and airy, and smells like the amazing...

Crabcakes With a View in Baltimore
You’re in Baltimore. You’re looking for crabs. It’s a no brainer. What’s stopping you? It’s off-season. Take my advice-forego any chains when you’re in this town and go for someplace that’s both unique to the city and waterfront!
Bo Brooks is without a doubt in my mind the hotbed for crabs, no matter the month or the weather! Steamed crabs served all...

Sushi in the City
Ask someone in Baltimore where the best sushi is in town, and you’ll face a host of opinions and options! In the city or the ‘burbs, for the fun party scene or a low-key vibe, chain or locally run hotspot, Baltimore is chock full of sushi joints meeting the needs of what you’re looking for. Let’s not even talk about the sushi places in Towson!
Recently, Baltimore has been...

Southern Charm in Baltimore
Ever since I was young, my mother said I should have been a Southern Belle (despite being born and raised in Baltimore-not exactly the deep south)! From my love of home made biscuits and the need to always be accessorized and styled whether I’m taking out the trash or heading to the gym. Needless to say, it was a tough call when I was accepted way back in the day to College of Charleston...

My fave sammy spot in Baltimore...
Over looking the water? Check. Free parking? Check. The most delicious and over-stuffed sandwiches you can find? Bingo. Red Star Tavern in Fells Point has become my go-to spot to score not only a great happy hour at some unbeatable prices but also a quality sandwich to wash it down with. Yes, I know. There are about 2343 kinds of sandwiches out there and people are about as fickle with what goes...

Trying Out Maryland's Best Breakfast
Brunch to me is the one crucial component that is missing during the weekdays. This is why when Saturday comes around, I’m first in line (or a close second) to the nearby brunchtime watering holes in town. If you live in Baltimore, are visiting Baltimore, or are searching for the ultimate indulgence before 1 pm, let me introduce you to someone I like to call Miss Shirley’s Cafe....
